1. FIX OUR INFRASTRUCTURE FIRST

 

Our roads, water, wastewater and other infrastructure need to keep pace with the community we already have. Before accelerating growth, we need a clear plan to maintain and improve the infrastructure residents depend on every day.

 

2. MAKE OUR EXISTING ASSETS WORK FOR US

 

Lakeshore already owns valuable assets, facilities and properties. We should look at how those assets can generate more value for residents and support our local economy.

 

We also need to help existing businesses expand and attract new commercial and industrial investment that creates jobs and grows our tax base. The stronger our local economy becomes, the less pressure there is to rely on residential growth and taxpayers for additional revenue.

 

3. IMPROVE TRANSPORTATION

 

People need to be able to get to work, school, businesses and services efficiently. We need to improve roads, traffic flow and transportation connections between our communities so that our transportation system keeps pace with our population.

 

4. BUILD HOMES RESPONSIBLY

 

Lakeshore needs housing, but housing should be part of a larger plan. Development should follow the infrastructure and transportation improvements necessary to support it — not have taxpayers constantly trying to catch up after the homes are built.

 

5. KEEP TAXES UNDER CONTROL

 

Lakeshore residents work hard for their money. We need to be responsible with every tax dollar and make sure our spending delivers value for residents. Residents deserve to know what we’re spending, why we’re spending it, and what benefit Lakeshore can reasonably expect.

 

Every tax dollar should have a purpose. Every investment should deliver value.
